As the years rolled by a new industry was born and it is called Social media influencing.

A social media influencer is someone who has established trust in a certain industry or content type that has access to a very wide audience on any social media platform.

Are you seeking a cool way of making money and becoming highly influential then becoming a social media influencer can just be your next journey?

By the year 2020, social media influencer marketing will be a 10 billion dollar industry.

So if you are seeking a career change or new income stream then becoming a social media influencer can be a very good starting point.

I decided to shorten this section because we still have a very long way to go.
Tools Needed To Become A Social Media Influencer.

Now that you have decided to become a social media influencer here are very few actionable steps to take.

1. Social Media Account.

Whether it be on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram just sign up on social media. You are allowed to be on more than one social media.

2. Smartphone.

Another Tool that is important to you as an online personality is to have a smartphone, these social media platforms usually come to inform handy mobile apps that can only be installed on smartphones Like Android and IOS.

3. Camera.

This is not an important tool but I recommend you own a camera as a social media influencer especially if you intend to make use of YouTube.

You can say that a smartphone does the heavy lifting of a native camera.

But I tell you A smartphone does not replace a camera no matter how sophisticated that smartphone might be.

You tend to need A camera when working with YouTube because of the resolution. Or else you would shoot crap videos.

4. Internet connection.

Social media platforms like Facebook, Twitter and YouTube run on the internet so you are going to need 24/7 access to the internet at all times.

How To Become A Social Media Influencer.

Now that you are fully equipped enough to start your journey to become a social media influencer it is time to know where to start from.

1. Choose Your Niche.

As a social media influencer, you are to choose a specific niche you want to engage your audience in, most popular niche nowadays is comedy and entertainment, You can start by selecting other niches that suits you.

2. Choose your Social Media platform.

There are so many Social media platforms out there, it is left for you to decide which one works for you. Deciding on your most preferable social media platform is determined by the kind of content you intend to drop on per times basis.

You can select as many as two to three social media platforms. I recommend you also leverage on YouTube because your YouTube account can be monetized

3. Post Relevant Content.

Content is King so you should make sure you try as much to engage your followers with relevant and useful content.

The more you can engage with your audience, the more people will be influenced by your opinions and recommendations.

4. Be consistent.

After you have decided what types of content you will post, you need to finalize a posting frequency and schedule. Most social media platforms’ algorithms give preference to accounts that post regularly.

This is especially true for Instagram, which requires a regular posting frequency for increased visibility. It is also the biggest influencer marketing platform.

5. Follow Other Influencers

There are no online tutorials or certifications on social media influencing which makes learning and mastering it a bit complicated.

Therefore your source of inspiration and tactics should be from other influencers you follow.

There are many ways to make money as a social media influencer and it varies on the kind of platform you choose.

1. Affiliate Marketing.

Affiliate marketing/ promotion involves selling a particular product or service to get a commission attached to it.

This can be as easy as sharing a blog post that has an affiliate mentioned in it, in most cases, you would be given a custom link and a back end dashboard that would enable you to track all sales and withdraw earnings.

2. Sponsored Partnership.

Sponsored partnerships are a popular way to get paid from social media. If you have a large following, companies may offer to pay you to post about them.

This is popular among celebrities. it does not mean an average social media influencer cannot get a sponsored partnership deal with a reputable company. If you are in Nigeria, you can use an online service like Hype. Buzz.
